Mr. Andrew Igella is one of thousands of young people in Teso Sub Region who are direct products of methodical and long term mentorship by Dr. Fabiano Okware. Andrew is a very humble young man with positive attitude and a teachable spirit. As a result of this, Dr. Okware invested a lot of time and resources in grooming him into one of the finest young Entrepreneurs in Teso Sub Region. His dedication, determination and diligence in discharging his duties made Dr. Okware recommend him to top management of Usuk Home Land for the position of Mill Manager and this had no objection.
He has since then stayed committed to his job and has been a point of contact in the community for anyone who may want information about managing agricultural projects like the one he is responsible for. On a weekly basis, he interacts with staff of Non-Governmental organizations with and outside Teso Sub Region, Technical staff of civil society organizations, businessmen, Religious Leaders, Youth organizations, Parish, Sub County and district officials. He has on several occasions been invited actively participate in meetings involving all SACCOs in the sub county.
As part of his critical role at Usuk Home Land, Andrew oversees the mills operations, such as planning, production, and delivery and ensures there is suitable performance management techniques in place and keep all workers accountable for their actions. He has admirable skills of ensuring that his team meets certain production targets and takes preventative measures to maintain equipment successfully. On a regular basis, Andrew takes time to train staff members, and encourage appropriate health and safety management as well as direct daily operations in the mill Forecast and schedule procurement. In addition, he also manages the budget for production, taking into consideration maintenance and transport costs, effective maintenance to keep mill at tip top condition and prevent breakdown.
Mr. Andrew Igella holds a Bachelor of Adult and Community Education from Kyambogo University in Kampala, Uganda, attended several personal development courses on community development, is widely exposed in the area of agricultural economics as a result of the mentorship of Dr. Fabiano Okware and completed his Advanced Certificate of Education from Hilton High School in Kampala, Uganda.
