Ms. Juliet Ojao – Finance Manager
Juliet is a modern Finance and Administration specialist with substantial training and exposure in Finance and Accounting and has demonstrated history of working in the non-profit sector for more than 7 years. She has good knowledge of national and international Finance, Accounting and Audit standards, the local Financial management requirements or organisations in the non-profit sector and their application in Uganda. She has demonstrated exceptional ability to analyse accounting processes and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Ms. Juliet Ojao Juliet demonstrates tenacity and a willingness to go the extra distance to get things done. This may be traced to her intellectually curious and creative approach to tackling challenges, her passion to create a productive, welcoming and friendly work environment that enables every member of the team achieve their very best to collectively accomplish goals of the organisation she works for.
Her core capabilities include asset management, budgeting and financial management, audit, treasury management, payroll administration, Inventory management, capacity building in finance and accounting, providing financial and tax advisory services, financial reporting, Audit, developing finance policies and processes. She has managed budgets and is familiar with International Financial Reporting Standards and guidelines. In addition, she has had exposure carrying out financial audits for organizations in the non-profit sector and is exposed to corporate risk management practices in addition to financial risk management.
She has diligently served Most at Risk Populations Initiative (MARPI) Project for over 5 years in the capacity of Finance Officer and with a direct responsibility of checking the Arithmetic and coding accuracy, completeness, consistency of support Documents and compliance with Tax regulations and other guidelines of all payment Vouchers, receiving and Filing all monthly Bank statements, performing reconciliation and producing Bank reconciliation statements, compiling Tax information, Filing the Uganda Revenue Authority Return Forms, Filling the Return form on URA Web and Upload the Payment, updating the payroll system in consultation with the Human Resource Unit, printing and seeking Approval, updating Payment Vouchers for each Donor for all Payment Being Made for that particular Month, receiving and recording all funds received directly and monitor the Bank accounts online for any direct credits.
As a Field Mobiliser/Enumerator with Innovation for Poverty Action for more than 2 years, Juliet exhibited integrity, passion and commitment to people. She recognized that everyone has a role to play and to create the space for people to fulfil that role while she was charged with preparing accurate, honest, and timely reports of their individual activities and maintaining signed records of the engagement and activities with the community. She is known to always be clear in her communication with the stakeholders about the organization abilities, activities, plans and the level of flexibility. She consistently referred periodically to the communication plan and kept all stakeholders updated about the progress of mobilization of respondents, changes and any other necessary updates.
Juliet started her career in financial management as a Direct Sales Representative with Crane Bank where she was responsible for mobilizing and sensitizing customers about loans and other services in line with the set targets, conducting proper client assessment before recruiting new clients, undertaking professional and proper client’s appraisal before loan disbursement, carrying out both business and residential appraisal of the clients in line with the bank’s loan policies and procedures, processing loan applications accurately by ensuring all loan application requirements are met and recommending to the credit approval committee for disbursement of only the best loans.
Ms. Ojao Juliet is currently studying towards the award of a Certified Public Accountant with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), the National Professional Accountancy body. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Uganda Management Institute and Bachelors in Business Administration from Ndejje University in Kampala, Uganda. Ojao Juliet has been very instrumental in financial records of Usuk Homelands Limited, ensuring compliance to the best financial management principles and financial mobilization for the smooth running of the company.
